Oil palm propagation is mainly by the seeds. The seeds are extracted from the palm fruits and pre-heated for 75 days at a temperature of 40 Celsius. In hot tropical clime like Nigeria, the seeds can be sun dried for 40 – 75 days. The seeds need to be pre-heated because of the high seed dormancy rate of oil palm seeds.
