Currently, eight of the largest peanut suppliers, supplying an estimated 75% of the country’s peanut production, are implementing the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) with support from five SAI Platform members and the Argentina Peanut Chamber. While peanut suppliers in Argentina have strong sustainability practices, there is a need for
peanuts (with skin), blanched peanuts and crude peanut oil, still with room to add even more value to the rising exports. The Argentinian Peanut Chamber (CAM) released its final supply and demand estimates for the 2022/23 season on 13 July. The organisation pegged the 2022/23 peanut crop at 658 thousand tonnes, down 35% (-356 thousand tonnes) from the season prior and 29 thousand tonnes below its previous estimate released at the International Peanut Forum in April 2023.

The agency projects the 2021/22 production yield at 2.30 tonnes/ha kernel basis (3.30 tonnes/ha in-shell basis), down from last year’s 2.61 tonnes/ha. Following the decline in production, the CAM projects 2021/22 Argentine peanut exports at 612,000 tonnes, approximately 100,000 tonnes less (-14%) than in the previous campaign (712,680 tonnes).
